The Lagoon, Tahaa
Tahaa's lagoon is one of the most natural and preserved lagoons of the Society Islands.. Vahiné Island, thanks to its location and orientation, (themotu line, geologically the oldest part of the Tahaa-Raiatea lagoon) has the privilege to be surrounded by gorgeous coral gardens accessible to everybody from 5 to 105 years old.
While a large part of the southern end of the island is a beautiful white sand beach, you can also take time to discover our two private coral gardens on east the and west sides and our northern coral reef protected from the Pacific Ocean by an incredible ecosystem.
Once you have a taste of the incredible beauty of our underwater world safely snorkeling just a few meters from your private bungalow, you will be ready to discover larger and deeper hidden coral gardens in very unusual places a few minutes from Vahiné.
What was once a volcano has become home to an unexpectedly diverse community of colorful sea creatures.
In this beautiful environment, bright-blue fish play between delicate coral towers with red mullets or colorful parrot fishes. Delicate, lacy sponges mingle with brilliant, lemon-yellow corals the size of boulders. There are crabs, giant clams and great green turban shells as well as red octopuses, sea stars, eels, small lagoon black-tipped sharks, and more.
Dolphins and seasonal whales add to the magical landscape.
And if you forget to bring aqua shoes, mask or snorkel, we have them for you, so there is no excuse to miss out !
